Ottawa, Ontario, October 3, 2017 – The Ottawa Film Office, the local non-profit organization dedicated to growing Ottawa’s film and television industry, is pleased to announce today the appointment of 12 members to its new Board of Directors. The group, which brings together a variety of business, community development, and communications skills, will provide oversight for all corporate activities that will help the Office achieve its goal of establishing Ottawa as a premiere filming destination.
“We are extremely fortunate and grateful to have so many pillars of our community join our Board of Directors. Each member brings diverse and valuable expertise that will help rejuvenate the Ottawa Film Office, and in turn, help strengthen the overall local film and television industry,” said Bruce Harvey, Ottawa Film Commissioner.
Joining the Ottawa Film Office team as Board members are:

- Catherine Callary, Senior Director, Destination Development, Ottawa Tourism
- Jean Cloutier, Councillor (Alta Vista), City of Ottawa
- Mark Edwards, Lawyer, Edwards PC, Creative Law
- Daniel Feeny, Director, Marketing and Partnerships, National Capital Commission
- Robyn Heaton, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Media and Design, Algonquin College
- Tom McSorley, Executive Director, Canadian Film Institute
- Bruce Raganold, Director, Business Development, Welch LLP
- John Smit, Director, Economic Development and Long Range Planning, City of Ottawa (non-voting member)
- Ken Stewart, President and Executive Producer, GAPC / Chair, Film and Television Advisory Committee
- Nicole St. Pierre, Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, Mercury Filmworks / Vice-Chair, Film and Television Advisory Committee
At the inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors on September 6, Catherine Callary was unanimously selected as Chair.
“As Ottawa continues to add depth to its repertoire as one of Canada’s premiere cities, the Film Office can further grow the cachet of Ottawa as a premiere production destination. The Board looks forward to leading this exciting vision that will help generate results in the recruitment, facilitation, and servicing of film and TV production in Ottawa,“ said Callary.
Mayor Jim Watson, just back from an economic mission to Los Angeles and Seattle that contained a strong focus on film and TV production, welcomed the news regarding the recent Board appointments.
“The film and TV production industry represents a great area of growth for our local economy,“ said Mayor Watson. “Our Film Commissioner, Bruce Harvey, has been doing great work selling Ottawa as an ideal filming location and attracting productions from around the world to shoot here. I believe this new Board, composed of economic development partners, and community and industry leaders, will give him the ability to deliver on his vision and make Ottawa a staple destination for film and TV production.“
The current Film and Television Advisory Committee, comprised of active industry members, will continue to meet and provide insight to the Ottawa Film Office and Board of Directors.
